Late Work Policy

Assignments will not be accepted more than three days late without a valid excuse   If you are absent from class, it is your responsibility to find what work you have missed and to turn it in the next school day. If an absence is unexcused, you will not receive credit for assignments due on that day.   You should also to quickly arrange a time to make up quizzes, tests, or writing assignments.  Points received on late work will automatically be reduced by 10% for each day the assignment is late.  Assignments turned in more than three days late will not be given credit.

IMPORTANT:  behavior guidelines

Our French classes will operate now under the "three  Rs," which stand for Respect, Responsibility, Resourcefulness, Response, and Reaching.  Students will be expected to...

  • ... RESPECT themselves, the classroom, their classmates, their teachers, and the learning going on in the classroom.
  • ...be RESPONSIBLE for their own work, materials, and behavior as becoming a middle shcool student.
  • ... be RESOURCEFUL, imaginative, and creative in solving problems and academic tasks.  They should make full use of the resources available to them both inside and outside the classroom.
  • ... RESPOND appropriately, with kindness and maturity, to their classmates, teachers, and assignments.
  • ... REACH for attainable but challenging goals by following the four "Rs" listed above and giving every assignment and activity their all.

If a student fails to adhere to the guidelines above, s/he will be subject to the following consequences:

  • A student begins each day with five participation / behavior points.  If a students name is written on the boad, s/he will lose one point for the day.
  • If a student receives a check by their name, they will lose two behavior points for that day and may recieve a call home.
  • If a student receives a second check by their name, they will lose three points for that day, will receive a phone call home, and will have a lunch detention in Mme McCullen's classroom.
  • If a student receives a third check by their name, they will be down to one point for the day, they will receive a phone call home, lunch detention with Ms McCullen, and will be referred to the main office for further consequences.  Any further infractions will result in the student being removed from the classroom.

La géographie Française

The sixth graders have been studying "la géographie française," and have come up with some very clever mneumonic devices to help remember all the mountain ranges, rivers, bodies of water, countries, and cities on "la carte de France!"

To help remember bodies of water like la Manche, l’Océan Atlantique, et la Mer Méditérranée, remember that…

… The Britich munch on French cheese, then they take a dip in l’Océan Atlantique, decide the water is too cold, and cross les Pyrénées to swim in the Mer Méditérranée instead.

To help remember the countries surrounding France, including Angleterre, Belgique, Luxebourg, Allemagne, Suisse, Italie, Monoco, Corse and Espagne, remember that…

all boys like abducting super idiot monkeys called Ed.

To help remember the names of the seven major French rivers, including the Garonne, Loire, Meuse, Rhin, Rhône, Sôane, and Seine, remember that…

Goofy Looney Men Report Rats in their Soup Suspiciously

To remember the northern cities, including Strasbourg, Colmar, Nancy, Paris, Rouen, Lille, Le Havre, Caen, and Versailles, remember that…

… We go to Strasbourg for strawberries and give them to the people of Colmar.  We then split them in half and give them to NancyNancy eats a few, then sends the rest to Paris, who ships them straight on to Rouen, where they’re eaten at the cathedral.  Rouen sends them north to the people of Lille, who in turn ship them along the coast to Le Havre and Caen.  Finally, they’re shipped almost back to Paris, to Versailles, and we have to go east to Strasbourg again for more strawberries!

To remember the mid-country cities, including Vichy, Tours, Grenoble, Dijon, Lyon, Nantes, Clermont-Ferrand, Annecy and Rennes, remember that…

… Vicky, The Good Doctor Lands Near Clermont-Ferrand And Reads.

To remember the southern cities, including Bordeaux, Albi, Nîmes, Avignon, Montpellier, Marseille, Toulon, Nice, Cannes, Saint-Tropez, and Toulouse, remember that…

…”Ban All Neon Alligators Many Months To Nice!” Called She, Two Times.
